Megan + Dylan || Putney, Vermont Wedding Celebration

The afternoon of Megan and Dylan’s wedding party (they got married last fall) I was fueled on mucinex D and Kaleigh a double shot espresso and we were ready for whatever this nordic-skier-vermonter-wedding-party threw at us.  My voice was already hoarse when I yelled for Kaleigh to STOP THE CAR in the center of Putney to take pictures of the cute signs that would guide us up dirt roads to the Killigrew homestead. This isn’t the first time I’ve pulled up to a private property in Vermont and had my eyes boing out of my face cartoon-style.  Megan’s parents’ property is STUNNING.  From the stone walls, to the perennial gardens, to the bright red barn and the gorgeous house and fields that spilled out past the big white tent - it was beautiful everywhere we looked.  I almost tripped getting out of the car I was in such a rush to take it all in.  Megan practically skipped under the white paper lanterns and twinkle lights that would be aglow when the sun set in a cream dress welcoming us and asking us what we needed.  Nothing I assured her (although when I lost my voice about thirty minutes later - a wireless microphone might have been nice).

"We used to get in trouble down here as kids" Megan told us at the sugar shack down the road.

Aside from the face that we felt like we were on the set of Anne of Green Gables all night our other favorite details included: Stunning cheese plates, friendly bartenders, cookies for dessert baked by Megan’s neighbor, babies blowing bubbles, yeti coolers full of ice cream, thoughtful toasts and funny poems, and lots and lots of dancing.  Thank you Megan and Dylan for an phenomenal night! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Erika + Andy || Vermont Engagement Session

I hopped into Andy’s truck after driving 4+ hours through the back woods of southern NH and VT to Stratton Mountain and was whisked off to Gale Meadows Pond where Andy proposed to Erika earlier this summer.  We walked along the wooded pond-side trail as they regaled me with the story – Andy leaving painted rocks for Erika to find, Erika saying she had no idea until the third rock – thankful as that gave her time to compose herself.  Meanwhile, Andy in a fishing boat motors out to the spot on the phone with Erika’s dad at the time getting his last-minute blessing.  We know how the story ends – here in the woods with me hopping over wet rocks and scampering through the brush looking down long enough for a spider to crawl across my foot and a frog to hop out of the way.  After our jaunt through the woods we drove to a deserted farm road and Erika and Andy practiced their first dance and got cozy next to a faded barn.  E + A thanks for reminding me why I adore Vermont so much and I hope you love the photographs! Kerrie + Alex || Mad River Glen Vermont Wedding

I walked in to the airbnb where Kerrie and Alex were getting ready and found the two of them sitting next to each other at a small table scribbling away - I was expecting some state of getting dressed to have occurred at this point, but the two of them were busy writing their vows.  I grabbed Kerrie's dress and jewelry made by her dear friend Alixandra Barron.  The two split up, got dressed in seperate rooms and had their first look in the woods behind the house before I whisked them off and up the mountain for a few portraits before the ceremony.  The ceremony occured at the base of Mad River Glen and was officiated by another good friend of theirs who wore a starry suit.  Moments after asking the crowd to take a moment of silence for those who could not be there to celebrate wiht them a huge gust of wind came flying through the base of the ski mountain and nearly knocked the couple over.  After emitting a big "WOOHOO" both Kerrie and Alex and their friends enjoyed drinks and snacks before a dinner and dancing at the Mad River Glen Lodge.  Sparkie and Roadie I'm glad you found me and invited me to capture your wedding day!
